Wooden Sailboat Blog

“Welcome to my sailboat restoration blog.”

FINALLY. One very nice summer day in North Carolina

Zero wind but rowing it out....

In the parking lot the rigging before the launch.

1st officer Richard

Ready to go.

A lot of lines

Some re-design will be needed later. But for now it will have to do. 2 lazy jacks, topping lift and gaff. Plus main line.

Jordan Lake, NC

Backing up down a public boat ramp into Jordan Lake. 2 1/2 years after starting the project the boat is finally getting used again.

Last Preparation

The boat is insured through an antique boat insurer (just in case). But we were confident that everything will go smooth.

With the center board up she feels pretty twitchy. But the lays much better after lowering the 3 foot steel center board.

No Wind...

But still a successful day.
